The Stevens Motel

The Stevens Motel is a sweet mom n’ pop property run by a lovely young family. Cheaper than anything in State College and right on the doorsteps of The Waffle Shop and a wonderful Greek restaurant, I always make this my budget friendly stay when I’m visiting my son at PSU. It’s a rare find.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with The Stevens Motel at 1275 North Atherton Street, State College, PA 16803, even before our stay began. From the very first call, we were impressed. The phone was picked up within two rings, and Michelle was amazing to work with. She was warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful, taking the time to explain the different room options and letting us know the motel had just been renovated. She made sure the rooms could comfortably accommodate our entire family, which immediately put us at ease. The booking process was smooth and effortless, and based on how well we were treated, we booked right away. Unfortunately, the very next day we received notice that our Volleyball Tournament in town had been canceled due to an incoming major snowstorm. When we contacted the Stevens Motel, Michelle was kind, sweet, and completely understanding, and she promptly issued us a full refund with no hassle at all. That level of compassion and professionalism is rare these days. The Stevens Motel truly delivers hometown care with first-class customer service. We highly recommend staying here and absolutely look forward to traveling back to State College in the future and when we do, we will definitely be staying at the Stevens Motel. If you are looking for a reasonably priced place to stay in the State College area. I booked through AAA and saved (stayed twice in past four weeks). The rooms are not fancy (if you want that can go somewhere else and pay 3 or 4 times the price) but they are nice sized. We had 2 double beds. Pillows and bed are firm. There was a small fridge a microwave and large screen tv. Free internet. Bathroom with shower. Rooms and everything in them were clean. This is a smoke free motel. Staff is friendly and the owner is accommodating. Not a lot of parking. Next to waffle House and a Greek restaurant but you can hop in your car (or Doordash) and are just minutes away from a multitude of local establishments. I had no problems getting Uber pickups in minutes but make sure you leave a driver note you are at hotel they can get confused because if two restaurants immediately adjacent.

Michelle was very accommodating for my family when we were looking for a room for the night while on our road trip, and it was late. She made sure we had a comfortable room with a new a/c unit. And directed us to have breakfast across the parking lot at the waffle place. Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. Michelle was amazing! Checking in was a breeze. So thankful. Highly recommend. Will be back on our next trip through PA heading east ward!

It is a quaint place. The room was very clean. People in the office are the kindest. It is a no-frill place, but much cheaper than other hotels. The room had a microwave oven and a small fridge. Free parking and free coffee in the morning. It is 1.5 miles from downtown, and there is the Waffle Shop right next to it.

Arrived shortly after Noon and was granted an early check-in. Found our room to be satisfactory for the price we paid. Comfortable queen bed. Plenty of space to move around, as well as a small table and chairs in the corner. Large window air conditioner was able to adequately cool the room albeit a bit noisily. Small older microwave and box refrigerator that worked as needed. Negatives would be just a shower stall, no tub, with a floor that seem to have been cracked/repaired at one time. Pedestal sink offered limited counter space. No remote for the TV/cable box at check-in, thou the office brought one down and programmed it. Finish on furniture was a bit worn, but did not affect it's use. Having to walk to the office for a morning cup of coffee was unexpected. Pleasantly surprised to find our room had been serviced while we were out - during a two night stay! We would consider staying at Stevens Motel if we were passing through the area again.

The Stevens Motel is a great budget hotel offering excellent and clean rooms along with great service. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice and clean - especially for being so cheap. I was also able to park directly outside the room which is nice. No complaints. I’d recommend staying here if you’re looking for a nice and budget friendly place in State College, PA.

The Stevens Motel was clean, updated, and the staff was willing to accommodate my needs for check-in. Very pleasant to speak with. When returning will stay again.
